Dr. Ahmad Yahya Ghabin from the Academic Arab College for Education in Israel will be speaking at the library. Dr. Ghabin's areas of expertise are Islamic Art and Civilization.
Dr. Ghabin writes in his letter of interest to BVU professor Peter Steinfeld that "As a scholar of Islamic studies, it will be a good opportunity for me to meet American scholars, to realize their approaches in Islamic studies and to exchange from our experience in Islamic studies. I also will be much interested in the ‘Islamic materials’ (literature and objects) as they exist in American libraries and Museums. In the same time, I will be happy to lecture on subjects from my specialization, Islamic art and civilization. As a member of al-Qasemi teaching staff and in accordance with its policy, it will be an opportunity for me to present the viewpoints of our academy and to try to build academic relations with American academies. Of special importance is, I believe, the fact that, as a member of the Muslim minority in Israel, I will be able to spread out something of its reality in Israel and to learn about the different minorities in the US."
The Storm Lake Community is invited to join us for what we expect to be an interesting and enlightening evening.
