Bonnie and Clyde--Great Directors Film Series
We conclude the 1960s portion of our Great Directors Series with Arthur Penn's 1967 classic, Bonnie and Clyde, starring Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway in the title roles. The film is based on the true story of criminal couple, Clyde Barrow and Bonnie Parker, who famously went on a violent crime spree during the Great Depression. "Bonnie and Clyde is a milestone in the history of American movies, a work of truth and brilliance. It is also pitilessly cruel, filled with sympathy, nauseating, funny, heartbreaking, and astonishingly beautiful" (Roger Ebert). It received eight Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor and Best Actress. The movie will begin at 1:00 PM and light snacks will be served.
